Lighterman, 3 Granary Square, London N1C 4BH
A brand new, glossy all-day drink and dine destination in King’s Cross
Named after the Victorian workers who operated the ‘lighter’ goods barges, this is the third venue from Open House (Percy & Founders, the new The Larder ) and their most ambitious project to date.
Granary Squares newest addition, The Lighterman, is newly built and spans the eastern side of Granary Square, with three floors and alfresco seating on both Regent’s Canal and Granary Square, plus a wraparound terrace with views over King’s Cross.
Open House designed interiors follow the same industrial look as the bold grey exterior. Raw materials further showcase the building’s stunning design – from untouched concrete walls to pale floorboards.
On the top level dining room and bar, floor-to-ceiling glass walls offer panoramic views across the square and canal.
Clad in green, Mondrian-esque squares, the cast concrete bar with high stools for counter cocktail sipping, makes for a stylish focal point.
The Lighterman’s modern British menu (see the all day menu here) is overseen by Executive Chef Diego Cardoso.

Catering for everything from an elegant dinner to a quick canal-side snack, the all-day menu majors in expertly sourced meats and seafood from the wood-fired grill, classic British cooking, spelt-flour flatbreads and decadent breakfasts.

Connecting the venue with the canal towpath, The Lighterman’s final floor will be opening late April, offering a waterside spot for casual drinks and dining with yet another alfresco option in the form of the canal-side terrace.
Bookings can be made on the website, by email reservations@thelighterman.co.uk or phone on 020 3846 3400
